Built around the application
From bearing sleeves and wear plates to marine hardware, we help match alloy, machining method, and production route to your operating conditions.
Material engineering
Engineer bronze for industrial performance
Bronze can be a strong choice for high-load, high-friction service where steel or plastics may not meet wear, lubrication, or temperature needs. Alloy selection starts with your actual application—not a one-size-fits-all specification.
Load and wear
Select an alloy for compressive stress, friction, and the expected duty cycle to help avoid deformation and premature wear.
Corrosion exposure
Consider bronze for salt-water or chemical environments where material compatibility and corrosion behavior are critical.
Lubrication strategy
Evaluate oil-impregnated sintered bronze or solid bronze with graphite plugs against external lubrication and maintenance needs.
Common starting points
C93200 (SAE 660) is used for general-purpose bearing applications; aluminum bronzes can suit higher-strength marine hardware. The right grade depends on the part geometry, operating environment, loads, and specified requirements.
Application-led selection
When does bronze outperform the alternatives?
Compare materials against your load, lubrication, corrosion, temperature, and production requirements. Choose a material below to review the key tradeoff.
Choose bronze for demanding wear surfaces
Bronze is often suitable for heavy-duty bearings, bushings, sleeves, and sliding components where load capacity, wear behavior, and corrosion resistance matter. It can also act as a sacrificial wear material to help protect more expensive shafts and housings.
Compare bronze with brass
Brass is generally easier to machine, while bronze offers superior mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. Bronze is often the better candidate for structural components and heavy-duty wear surfaces.
Manage friction against steel parts
Steel-on-steel can gall in high-friction, non-lubricated, or poorly lubricated conditions. A bronze wear component can provide a sacrificial interface and help protect adjacent shafts or housings.
Match plastics to lighter-duty service
Materials such as Nylon or POM can suit low-load, low-speed applications. Bronze may be required where heavy load-carrying capacity or high-temperature stability is a priority.
Manufacturing capabilities
Precision machining, matched to your part
BGCNC works with a network of 50+ specialized manufacturing partners to align component geometry, alloy, and production volume with the right equipment.
CNC turning
For bushings, sleeves, and shafts, with attention to internal and external diameters for press-fit or running-clearance requirements.
CNC milling
For complex housings, wear plates, and industrial brackets requiring accurate mounting holes and flat surfaces.
Secondary operations
Internal lubrication grooves, chamfering, and specialized surface finishes to support lubrication distribution and reduce friction.
Quality and traceability
Confidence from certified material to finished part
For industrial and marine applications, material integrity and dimensional consistency are essential. We coordinate checks and documentation around your component requirements.
-
Material certification
Mill Test Reports (MTR) can verify alloy composition.
-
Dimensional accuracy
Inspection reports can detail Cpk and Ppk for critical features.
-
Batch consistency
Production management supports consistency across high-mix, low-to-medium volume runs.
A coordinated path from drawing to delivery
-
1
DFM analysis
Review drawings for cost-driving details such as non-standard hole sizes or unnecessarily tight tolerances on non-mating surfaces.
-
2
Supplier matching
Select a manufacturing partner suited to the specified bronze alloy, component geometry, and volume.
-
3
Process management
Coordinate secondary operations such as heat treatment or specialized coatings, with a single shipping destination.
Production planning
Scale the manufacturing route with your product lifecycle
The best process can change as designs mature and demand grows. We adapt the production path to validate the part, manage unit cost, and support stable supply.
01 / Validate
Prototypes
Use small-batch CNC machining to verify fit and performance in real operating conditions.
02 / Optimize
Low-volume production
Apply optimized tool paths and standardized workholding to keep unit costs competitive without expensive casting molds.
03 / Scale
High-volume production
As designs mature, consider centrifugal casting or continuous-cast bronze bar stock for potential material and cost savings.
