Custom Polycarbonate Parts for Guards, Covers and Instruments
Need a clear, impact-resistant machine guard, equipment cover, instrument window or functional component? We coordinate prototypes and low- to medium-volume production, helping you choose a process that fits the geometry, quantity, finish and budget.
Send a drawing or 3D model. Our engineering team reviews manufacturability and can compare CNC machining, thermoforming and injection molding before you commit to a production route.

Designed around the application
Clarity, impact resistance, machining stress, scratch protection and assembly requirements all affect the right manufacturing plan.
Material overview
Polycarbonate for transparent, impact-resistant components
Polycarbonate (PC) is used for protective guards, inspection windows, instrument panels and equipment enclosures where visibility and impact resistance matter. It can be machined or formed into custom geometries, but material choice alone does not determine the finished result.
Appearance depends on the process
PC grade, forming or machining method, tool condition, edge treatment and surface protection can all affect clarity and appearance.
Plan for stress and scratches
Sharp internal corners, thin sections and heavy material removal can introduce machining stress. Handling and assembly can also scratch transparent parts.
For impact protection or operator safety, validate the design and material for actual operating conditions. A custom-machined or formed PC part is not automatically certified safety glazing.
Manufacturing route selection
Choose a process that fits your quantity
The right route depends on geometry, appearance, order volume and how likely the design is to change. Select an option to review typical fit and cost considerations.
Flexible starting point
CNC machining
Often suited to prototypes and low-volume orders, flat panels, brackets, precise interfaces and parts with machined features.
Avoids a molding tool, making design changes easier. Material removal and machining time influence unit cost.
Sheet-based formed shapes
Thermoforming
Often suitable for larger covers, shrouds and formed shapes, especially when the geometry can be produced from sheet.
Tooling and forming complexity affect setup cost. Features needing precise interfaces may require secondary machining.
Repeat production
Injection molding
Often suited to higher quantities and repeat production where consistent geometry is required.
Requires mold investment and design-for-molding review. Unit cost may improve as volume increases, while tooling cost and lead time must be considered.
These routes are starting points, not fixed rules. A machined prototype may be practical while the product is being tested; once geometry and demand are stable, we can assess whether forming or molding is more economical. We compare options against your quantity and cost priorities.
One point of coordination
One team for machining and multi-process projects
BG CNC (Better Global CNC) is a custom parts manufacturing and supply chain partner based in Dongguan, China. You work with one BG CNC team while we coordinate engineering review, supplier selection, production, quality checks and delivery.
Our network includes more than 50 proven manufacturing partners across Dongguan and the Pearl River Delta. We select partners according to the process, material, quality requirements, capacity and project needs—not by routing every part to one factory.
Capabilities for custom components and assemblies
- CNC milling and turning, including 3-axis, 4-axis and 5-axis machining
- Plastic machining for custom components and prototypes
- Sheet metal fabrication and assemblies combining PC with metal parts
- Laser cutting, bending and welding for related enclosure components
- Surface finishing coordination, assembly and packaging
- Sourcing and production management for multi-process requirements
This gives you a single coordination point for a machined PC window, metal frame, fasteners and other custom components.
Design for appearance and manufacturability
Details that affect clarity, stress and cost
Transparent parts need design and handling decisions that account for their finished appearance—not just whether the geometry can be made.
-
01
Define the viewing area
Identify faces and edges that must remain clear or presentable. This helps assess machining marks, edge treatment and handling requirements.
-
02
Review wall thickness and geometry
Thin sections, sharp internal corners and uneven material removal can complicate machining and increase the risk of stress or distortion.
-
03
Specify the finish you need
“Clear” can mean visual clarity, a particular surface appearance or simply visibility through the part. The achievable result depends on grade and process.
-
04
Plan scratch protection and handling
Tell us if protective film, careful packaging or special handling is needed; these requirements can affect finishing and delivery planning.
-
05
Check interfaces and tolerances
Consider holes, slots, fasteners and metal contact as part of the assembly. Tight tolerances can add machining and inspection time, so we review drawing requirements and flag dimensions to confirm.
We do not assume a standard tolerance or optical finish for every PC part. Define applicable requirements through your drawing, application and inspection needs.
Prepare your RFQ
Information we use to quote your part
Complete specifications help us select a process and provide a useful quotation. If details are still open, send the files you have and we can identify what needs clarification.
Part geometry
2D drawing and/or STEP or other 3D model for features, access, setup and process fit.
Material
Required PC grade, color or transparency; note if the grade is not yet selected.
Quantity
Prototype quantity, initial order and expected repeat volume to compare process economics.
Tolerances
Critical dimensions and general tolerance requirements for process and inspection review.
Surface and appearance
Viewing faces, finish expectations and edge requirements for clarity and presentation.
Application
Operating environment, assembly method, and impact or safety requirements.
Delivery
Required date and destination country to support production planning and logistics coordination.
Prototype to repeat production
Engineering review that evolves with your project
Our team of 10 manufacturing engineers has more than 10 years of industry experience. We review more than whether a drawing can be produced.
- •Whether CNC machining suits the current quantity and geometry
- •Whether thermoforming or injection molding merits comparison as demand grows
- •Which dimensions need tighter control and which may be relaxed
- •How to reduce machining time or simplify secondary operations
- •How surface, packaging and inspection requirements affect the quotation
As a product moves from prototype to production, the most economical process may change. We can revisit the design and volume assumptions rather than treating the prototype method as permanent.
Quality and project visibility
Coordinated requirements from review to delivery
We connect technical, production and quality requirements with the selected manufacturing partner. Depending on the project, support can include engineering review, supplier matching, production management, quality inspection coordination, finishing, assembly, packaging and international logistics.
Certifications and documentation
Our network includes partners operating under recognized quality systems, including ISO 9001 and, where relevant to the selected supplier and scope, industry-specific certifications. Availability depends on the manufacturing partner chosen. Include required certification, material traceability or inspection documentation in your RFQ so we can assess the appropriate route.
